Updating details in one Product changes the details in another - please help

Topic summary

Issue: Editing the emojis and text under the price on one product also changes another product’s details in a Shopify store.

Cause: Both products use the same shared product template; changes made in Theme Customize apply to all products assigned to that template.

Solutions suggested:

  • Create separate product templates for products that need different content.
  • Alternatively, use a page builder app (e.g., PageFly) to manage per-product content.

How-to clarification: Create a new product template and set “Base on: Default template,” then assign the new template to the specific product that needs unique content.

Resources: A Shopify help article was linked, and a screenshot illustrated the template creation dialog. The user also followed a YouTube tutorial to duplicate/apply a template.

Outcome: The user found a working method via the video and confirmed it solved the problem.

Status: Resolved; no remaining open questions.

These are the two product pages I have https://toltano.com/collections/all

When I update any of the the emoji’s and text displayed beneath the Price in one product, it also changes and adds the same update to my other product

How can I stop it from doing that, and for each product to be updated individually without affecting the other?

Thank you

Hi @nvisibl1

You must create separate product templates for each product to do that. You can check this instruction to learn more.

@nvisibl1 - this happens as shopify uses shared templates, so any change to any product from customize settings , changes all the products.

To avoid this, please either create a separate templates for products or use some page builder app like pagefly.

Thank you

Is there a way to just duplicate the existing template, rename it, and apply it to the other product?

It doesnt seem to show that in the link

When creating a new template, on option Base on just leave it is Default template
