UPS Shipping App creating a label is time wasting

Hey Community,

who is using the Shopify UPS App for creating labels? I think it’s an important topic, as creating shipping labels is a key thing for online orders.

We think, to create a label with it is really time wasting because of displaying so much information, mostly not needed to edit within the most orders. Below my message to UPS support. I’m curious what you are thinking about it and if you maybe face the same issue or you maybe solved this issue with another workflow.

Hey Team,

we are switching from Shopware to Shopify.

As we are creating labels with UPS for over the last ten years we would also like to continue with it in the Shopify System.

In the Shopify App “https://ups.dashboardlink.com/de” its not possible to quickly create a label for an order cause on the “create shipping labels” page there is all information shown like

Account Informationen

Sender Info

Ship from

and also displayed by default (with no option to fold in/fold out)

Notifications

Tax/VAT Registration

Other Shipment Options

Additional Services

Its nice that informations can be predefined in the Settings → “Shipment specifications” but its really not neccessary to show all this information displayed by default when creating every single shipping label.

It would really help when on the

“create shipping labels” page only the

“Receiver Information” and “Packaging” Information"

is shown by default and the other settings can be shown by maybe clicking on a “fold out” botton or something like this.

It would enourmously speed up the workflow of creating labels.

I’ve attached a pdf of showing this page. Its really such long page for creating one label and the employee has to scroll and scroll.

Looking forward to hearing from you! I think it would be nice features for other dealers as well."

Looking forward to your thoughts

Best

Hi @julson11 I agree that creating shipping labels should be simple and easy. Especially, for big shippers, printing the shipping labels should take little time. At the same time for shippers who ship different types of products to multiple locations, having these many options can help get the right details on the shipping labels.

For this reason, our Multi-Carrier Shipping Label app can print shipping labels in one click or dedicated options for shippers who would like to add custom details to the shipping labels. This was even appreciated by the top carriers like UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL, etc. while I was discussing with their team. You should check this out and let me know your thoughts.

As UjjawalS has said, this is typically why businesses move over to dedicated shipping apps. Shopify certainly has enough basic functionality, but at some point it makes sense to pick up a tool which has in-depth functionality. Take a look at ours (Starshipit) if you’re interested!
