I am a small business owner managing both e-commerce and a physical store. On 8/23, we encountered a major website malfunction related to dynamic checkout or checkout extensibility. Since then, our online sales have sharply declined.
I recently learned that the Envy Theme I installed on 8/17 is not compatible with Shopify’s checkout extensibility. Despite my efforts to resolve these issues, troubleshooting has been overwhelming, and my sales have continued to drop with no clear solution in sight.
I was advised by Shopify Support to post here for assistance and would greatly appreciate any guidance. Specifically:
- Can the Envy 33.2 theme be updated to support checkout extensibility (been contacting them for days and getting no response)?
- Should I switch to a Dawn 2.0 theme, which is compatible with checkout extensibility?
- Should I hire an expert to help resolve these issues?
Our online sales have dropped to zero, and unless the situation improves, our business is at serious risk. Thank you for any support or advice you can provide!
My suggestion would be to downgrade your theme for now and work on it in draft version, Once it is resolved go back to that version
Can u share your store link for further help?
I’d love to offer a free performance review, curious if that would help your store?
Would you be open to a free store audit, no strings attached, for growth insights?
It sounds like the Envy theme’s incompatibility with Shopify’s new checkout extensibility is the main issue. Many older themes (like Envy 33.2) aren’t fully updated for the latest checkout system, which often causes checkout errors and sales drops.
If the theme developer isn’t responding, I’d suggest switching to a 2.0-compatible theme like Dawn. It’s built for the new framework and performs reliably with checkout extensibility.
Given the drop in sales, it may be worth having an expert review your setup. I work with a small team that helps Shopify store owners fix theme conflicts, optimize checkout, and recover conversions quickly. I’d be happy to take a look and point out what needs attention.
