We have a website that wants to use the Shopify app as a connector to download Merchant product information.
But we ask our clients to pay not for separate integrations like Shopify because we have many integrations but for the entire tool.
So we set the app as free to install and when we tried to list our app, we rejected it because “Use the Billing API to process all charges associated with your app”.
This totally makes sense, that Shopify wants to earn money for listed apps and we’re not against this.
The problem is, that our clients are agencies, not merchants, who are managing multiple accounts, and they are paying for the entire tool, not for separate Integrations. Merchant events don’t know what tools their agencies are using.
For example Zapier. Their clients are paying for Zapier accounts not for every integration or not at least via Shopify Billing API.
We would like to meet Shopify App requirements, but in our case Merchants are not those who pay for our tool.
Maybe someone has some recommendations on what should be done in our case?
Maybe there are some other agreements with Shopify like we could pay for app installs or so?
Maybe we could redirect somehow our client’s payment to Shopify billing?
The thing is, that we want to pay for Shopify, not our clients.
Any ideas are welcome.
Thank you!
