Using a custom notification sound causes push notifications to not work?

So, I’m an Android power user, and my phone has a very specific aesthetic. On top of that, I have my day job’s account and my own personal shop on the same device, so I wanted two different notifications for both shops.

That being said, if I use my custom notification sounds, the notification either only shows up on my phone for a split second (not long enough for it to be logged in the History or for my smartwatch to get the notification), or it doesn’t show at all. But if I change it back to the regular notification, it works just fine.

Test notifications are fine, whether with the default notification noise or my custom, and regular orders are fine with the default.

What gives? I’ve tried EVERYTHING, including restarting, clearing the cache, reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, making sure it’s updated… Is the notification just too long? Or is the app just mad I’m using a custom sound?

I’ve been searching for WEEKS for a solution on this! Please help!

Here you are a few steps to trouebleshoot your issue which might be helpful for you:

  • Check your notification settings for both you day job account and also pesonal shop in Shopify app
  • Trim the lenght of your custom noticiation sound if it is too long
  • Test different custom sound files to see if the problm persists
  • Contact Shopify support if the issue persists
