I am trying to set up a simple flow that lets the team know when an item is low on stock so they can order more in time. I did it creating a metafield for Product Category based on the ABC analysis produced by analytics and manually categorizing every product in the store. However this is not as accurate as we’d like, so we thought maybe using the ‘days of inventory remaining’ would help us more.
Now doing a custom metafield and manually changing tha data would not make any sense as it would require constant revision and it’s just too much work. My question is then: is there a way to use the information contained in a report from Shopify analytics in an shopify flow? it can be through a metafield but then how can I automate the update of such metafield?
Forget pulling analytics reports into Flow - it’s not built for that! Instead, try this simpler approach:
Set up a Flow with “Product inventory changed” trigger, then add conditions comparing current stock against average sales rate. For the sales rate calculation, you have options:
Use Inventory Planner app which can feed this data to Flow
Schedule a weekly task with Mechanic to calculate and store as metafields Quick fix: just set different thresholds by product type
I’ve found the Mechanic route works well for mid-sized stores without getting too complex. Let me know if you need help setting this up!
It is not possible using the method you’re trying. You cannot update information from Shopify reports to trigger it in the flow. The only option is to ask your team to manually check the “Days of Inventory Remaining” report. However, if you want to avoid giving reporting access to your team and prefer to automate the report delivery via email or Google Sheets, you can try third-party apps like Report Pundit. With Report Pundit, you can set up user management access, allowing your team to view only specific reports. Additionally, you can automate the delivery of Inventory Re-order Point reports to their email, so they will receive notifications whenever inventory is low.
Here are some of the Inventory Reports available at Report Pundit which you can try:
