Hi everyone!
Did you know? Shopify Sidekick can analyze your store data, suggest promotions, and even help set them up for you.
So in this post, I’ll show you how to use Sidekick to run your Mother’s Day promotions with only 2 simple steps - especially if you want something simple but effective.
Step 1: Pick & structure your offers based on store data
Start with a proven offer type. Then let Sidekick recommend the best products and structure based on your store data (AOV, sales trends, margins).
Here are a few popular promotions with prompt templates to start:
- Discount on total order (e.g, 20% off for any orders over $200): Use this to boost order value if your margins can handle discounts at high spend levels.
1. I want to create a discount based on total cart value for my store to run for Mother's Day 2026.
2. My store sells [product type/industry].
3. My primary goal is to [increase AOV / reduce cart abandonment / reward loyal customers].
4. My margin is around [X%].
1. Pull my store's average order value and sales data from the last 90 days.
2. Recommend the best discount structure, minimum cart threshold, discount percentage or amount, expiry window, and customer usage limits.
3. The discount should apply to [all customers / returning customers / first-time buyers].
4. Suggest the best combination rules to protect my margins.
- Free gift with purchase (e.g, spend $200, get a free gift): Great for increasing AOV and brand value without discounting your main products too heavily.
1. Set up a free gift with purchase promotion for my store running on Mother's Day 2026.
2. My store sells [product type/industry]
3. Goal is to [increase AOV / reduce cart abandonment / reward loyal customers\].
4. My margin is around [X%].
1. Pull my store's average order value and sales data from the last 90 days.
2. Recommend the best cart value threshold to trigger the free gift, including:
- which product to offer as the gift
- whether to use a single tier or multiple spend tiers
- customer usage limits.
3. The offer should apply to [all customers / returning customers / first-time buyers].
4. Suggest the best combination rules to protect my margins.
- Bundle combo (e.g., gift set for Mother’s Day): Perfect for curated experiences and higher cart value.
1. Set up a bundle promotion for my store to run for Mother's Day 2026.
2. My store sells [product type/industry].
3. My primary goal is to [increase AOV / move slow inventory / introduce new products / reward loyal customers].
4. My margin is around \[X%\].
1. Pull my store's average order value, frequently-bought-together products across my store orders, best-selling products, and sales data from the last 90 days.
2. Recommend the best products to bundle together, the ideal bundle price or discount amount, whether to offer a fixed bundle or a build-your-own bundle, and customer usage limits.
3. The offer should apply to [all customers / returning customers / first-time buyers\].
4. Suggest the best combination rules to protect my margins.
Step 2: Set up and schedule your offer
Once you’ve picked your offer, simply tell Sidekick what you want.
It’ll perfectly handle the setup for you if the offer is supported by Shopify’s native tools (like Shopify discounts or Shopify Bundles).
Prompt Template: Schedule a discount code that auto-expires after Mother’s Day.
1. Create a discount code called [CODE NAME] that gives [X% off / $X off / free shipping] on [all products / specific collection] when customers spend at least [$X].
2. Make it active from [start date] and automatically expire on [end date] at [time].
Finally, review everything once more before clicking “Save”.
If you want to adjust anything, just tell Sidekick what to change, and it will update it for you.
That’s it. 2 steps, and you have a Mother’s Day promotion ready to go.
If you have any questions while using Sidekick or setting things up, feel free to ask below. I’m happy to help!
Best,
Ellie from the BOGOS: Free Gift Bundle Upsell team
