Hi, does anyone know why when i press on a different colour variant of a product in my store why it doesn’t change to the photo that variant is assigned to? any help would be great please
Topic summary
A store owner is experiencing an issue where product images don’t update when selecting different color variants on their bundle products at booboobaby.store.
The Problem:
- When customers change color variants, the main product image gallery doesn’t reorder to show the selected variant’s image first
- The issue specifically affects bundle products with multiple color options
- Images are assigned to variants but aren’t switching on the frontend
Proposed Solutions:
- One developer offered to investigate directly and requested collaborator access to the store
- Another user suggested the issue likely stems from variant images not being properly linked or theme limitations
- A third-party app (Rubik Variant Images) was recommended as a no-code solution to automatically display and reorder variant-specific images
Current Status:
The discussion remains open. The original poster shared collaborator access with one developer who is investigating the technical cause.
Hi @Furro
Ok dear, please share your store URL and collaborator code with me so I can check and provide you with the proper solution.
the store url is:
booboobaby.store
No, im talking about the product photo images. when i change variants on the bundle, the product photo doesn’t change to that variant
Hi @Furro
You want that when I select a color, only the image of that variant should be displayed, right?
No, not only that image. I want the variant that is selected to show up first, and then the other images after that, i dont just want only that colour to show up, i just want that colour to come up first
it doesn’t matter, you’re not understanding. click on the buy 1 option and change the colour and you’ll see that the big product image isn’t changing, the images aren’t changing when i change the variants
OK, please share the collaborative code so that I can check and update you.
Hi @Furro
I’ve sent you the request — please accept it.
Hi there ![]()
That usually happens when the variant images aren’t properly linked to each variant, or when your theme doesn’t automatically update images on variant change.
If you want to make sure each color switches to its own image, you can use Rubik Variant Images — it lets you assign multiple images per variant and automatically hides irrelevant ones when a different color is selected.
You can try it here:
Rubik Variant Images & Swatch on Shopify
No coding needed — just assign your images in the app, and they’ll switch instantly when customers choose a different variant
