Variant translation still shows in Cart view after variant has been deleted

Topic summary

A product without variants continues to display a previously deleted variant’s translated name in the checkout view and backend order overview, despite the variant being removed. The issue only affects translated languages—the main language displays correctly.

Suspected cause:

  • The product was likely created by duplicating another product that had variants, then deleting those variants from the new product.
  • A default variant translation may be stored somewhere and persists even after variant deletion.

Current situation:

  • In the product’s translate & adapt app, no fields reference the deleted variants.
  • The user suspects each product has a default variant value that gets overwritten when actual variants are created, but needs help accessing or clearing this default translation.

Status: Another user confirmed experiencing the same issue, suggesting this may be a broader bug. No solution has been identified yet.

Hello,

we noticed a product (without variants) is still displaying a previously deleted variants translated name in the checkout view and also in the order overview in the backend.

I think this particular product was created by duplicating a similar product that already had variants and then removing these variants in the new product. In the main language, the variants name does not show up anymore but in the translated language, it still shows:

Ive read somewhere that each product has a default variant and I guess this value gets overwritten when creating actual variants? Can I somehow access this default variant translation? In the translate & adapt app of this product, there of course is no field anymore refering to the previously deleted variants.

Thank you for your time.
