Product variants (product options like size/color) are no longer displaying on the storefront, despite remaining active in the Shopify admin. The issue appeared within the last few hours; variants were working at a sale 4 hours prior. The product page now only shows a quantity selector.
A reviewer notes that while the product’s variants exist in the page’s JSON (data layer), they are not rendered in the HTML (visible form elements), indicating a front-end rendering issue. They suggest such a mismatch typically stems from theme code changes or an app hiding the variant selector, even if no intentional edits were made.
Suggested next steps:
Manually trace recent changes or app updates, and test by disabling suspect apps.
Switch to a different theme or restore a fresh copy of the current theme to see if variants reappear.
Provide store access to a developer for deeper debugging.
No resolution yet. The key open question is what change (theme/app/config) caused variants to stop rendering on the storefront.
Hi
My website isn’t showing variants, which are “active”. They appear to have been removed from the website, but not my shopify back end.
This issue has happened in the last couple of hours and nothing has been changed in the code since then. - We had a sale 4hours ago with variants working.
Strange issue but it’s also true that this conflict cannot happen without modification in the code or there are some apps which make it hidden.
btw In source code I found you have variants for this product but in JSON not in html that’s why I have to say no one can help you until they have access to the store.
So I suggest tracking the issue manually on your own or asking a developer to do it or try to switch the theme or try to use rsh copy of the theme.
