VAT being included in price despite unchecking Include sales tax in product price and shipping rate

Hi,

I only sell to the UK and wish for VAT to be shown separately and in addition to the prices shown on the website, and in the cart total. The only shipping zone setup is UK, and I am collecting VAT just for the UK.

As an example, if I add an item to the cart that is shown as £60.00, instead of showing taxes of £12.00, it shows estimated taxes of £10.00, therefore it has calculated that the product price of £60.00 includes VAT. This would make sense if I had checked the box “Include sales tax in product price and shipping rate” but I have left this unchecked.

Has anyone else had this? It seems like a bug because checking or unchecking the box makes no difference whatsoever. I have tried this on a number of themes and the same result persists.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update
Shopify have confirmed there is an issue with the way in which this is working and have referred the matter to the ‘Tax Team’. They reset the connection to the admin to try to resolve but the issue still remains. This is the sort of thing that can send you around in circles and at the end of the day not be something in your settings, more so something Shopify side.

I will provide another update in the event that anyone else experiences a similar problem.
