I have had my site up for a few years and I still only get one sale every two months. Any advice would be appreciated. I have been looking at other themes but not sure which one for me. Thank you
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner reports extremely low sales (one every two months) after several years in operation and seeks advice on improving performance, particularly regarding theme selection.
Main Issues Identified:
- Design & User Experience: Store appears too simple and generic; lacks visual appeal, clear value proposition, and strong hero banner with call-to-action
- Trust Elements: Missing customer reviews, testimonials, lifestyle product photography, and trust badges
- Technical SEO Problems: Multiple H1 tags, missing image alt texts, and overly long meta descriptions hampering search visibility
- Cart Optimization: No sticky cart, progress bars, or upselling/cross-selling features to maximize order value
- Traffic & Marketing: Likely insufficient visitor volume; needs stronger presence on Instagram, Pinterest, email marketing, and paid ads
Recommended Actions:
- Consider modern themes like Prestige, Dawn, Flow, or Startup that showcase jewelry effectively
- Add social proof through review apps (Judge.me suggested)
- Implement first-time buyer discounts and referral programs
- Use lifestyle images showing products in use or as gifts
- Optimize product pages with bullet points highlighting handmade/unique qualities
- Leverage Montana artisan story for authentic brand connection
- Focus on SEO with niche keywords and proper technical optimization
Status: Store owner acknowledges feedback and is actively working on implementing a new theme.
Hey @Katdob
The store looks pretty simple just like every other store. I would recommend try going around Pinterest and searching for some good website templates regarding your niche as it will give you some nice-looking suggestions. Also, adding more trust-building elements like customer reviews, lifestyle photos of the products in use, and a clear value proposition on the homepage could help the store stand out more.
On top of that, once your store design feels stronger, you might also test an affiliate/referral setup (something like UpPromote), itâs an easy way to get more word-of-mouth traffic while building credibility through others promoting your products. If you require any help in building your store then feel free to connect with me and I would be happy to give your store the right direction.
Wishing you the best of luck for your store!
Warmly,
Moeed
Yes I would buy a theme. Lots of cool templates out there for you. Iâd also direct local traffic to the site. Do you have a shop? Give your clients a business card with a qr code on the back. You can even attach an automatic discount to the qr code. You could do refer a friend to receive a special gift.
âYour products look beautiful! If sales are slow, itâs usually less about the theme and more about traffic + trust. A few things that can help:
Make sure your product photos are bright, clear, and lifestyle-focused.
Work on SEO so people searching for handcrafted jewelry can find you.
Add social proof (reviews, testimonials, Instagram feed).
Drive targeted traffic with social media or small ad campaigns.
A theme change can help polish the look, but consistent marketing usually makes the biggest difference.â
Hi @Katdob ,
Iâve checked your store, and I think the design is clean and functional, though it could be more eye-catching. The issue with conversions may be related to building trust with your customers. One suggestion is to use apps like Judge.me to showcase customer reviews. If you donât have many reviews yet, you can create some test orders to build up reviews for your store.
A good way to encourage initial purchases is to offer discount codes for first-time buyers. This will help attract customers for a positive experience and build a loyal customer base.
Let me know if you need more ideas or help setting this up ![]()

Hi @Katdob ,
We reviewed your homepage and product page - here are some focused suggestions to help improve sales and engagement:
Homepage improvements
- Add a clear hero banner with your value proposition + âShop Nowâ button (right now, it feels more informational than shoppable).
- Highlight bestsellers or categories near the top instead of show schedules.
- Bring product reviews/testimonials to the homepage to build trust.
- Consider a more modern theme with larger product images and cleaner typography.
Product page improvements
- Move key product benefits (e.g. handmade, unique art, gift-ready) into bullet points above the fold.
- Add trust elements like reviews, âsecure checkout,â or âmade in USAâ badges.
- Use lifestyle images (show the cards being written in, given as gifts, etc.), not just product close-ups.
- Consider cross-selling (âPairs well withâŚâ) instead of just âYou may also like.â
Hi @Katdob
I find out sth which may be helpful on your store sales. You can take a look carefully and choose what you need wisely:
-
Multiple H1 tag. I find out this issue from source code page when checking your homepage in detail. It is not a good sign, as it will confuse Google from indexing page contents properly and lose the highlight of main title on a page. If you use external plugins or app generated contents, please further check if they add the H1 tags repeatedly.
-
Missing image Alt texts. This is used to let Google know your image contents properly and without adding alt texts, it will be hard for Google to identify the relations between page contents and images, which result in weak performance in search results. By adding the missing alt texts on images from Shopify admin, they shall give more benefits to your page contents and further store improvement. I have listed two of them below as the examples, you can further check:

https://whisperingvinesstudio.com/cdn/shop/files/copperflowerearrings2.jpg?v=1706827324&width=533 -
Excessive Meta Description. Too long meta description will avoid customers from seeing what you sell and search details completely. Please keep the length between 100â200 characters, and it can display content in full, so that it can win more traffics as well in some ways.
These are the situations I find with the help of SEO Check in SEOAnt and if you would like to explore more on the further optimization of page contents, please click here to use it wisely and assist you to better understand what Google needs and how they perform properly. Thank you!
Hi @Katdob ,
If your Shopify store (whisperingvinesstudio.com) is getting about one sale every two months, thereâs a lot you can do to improve traction.
Optimize your store experience
Identify roadblocks to conversions: slow page speed, difficult navigation, or unclear messaging can seriously hurt performance.
Use SEO-rich product titles, descriptions, and image alt-text to attract organic traffic.
Build a content strategy blogs, guides, or brand storiesâto engage and convert.
Display recent purchases, reviews, or âX bought this an hour agoâ bannersâthese drive trust and FOMO.
Collaborate with micro-influencers or run referral programsâboth add credibility and extend reach.
Consider these themes Retina, Booster, Impulse, Streamline, Spark based on your niche
Thanks

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing â first off, donât be discouraged. Many small businesses face slow starts, especially in a niche like handcrafted jewelry where visibility and branding play a huge role. Letâs look at a few areas that might help turn things around:
1. Your Brand & Story
You have something special â handcrafted jewelry made in Montana is a strong identity. Make sure your website tells that story clearly. Visitors connect emotionally with authenticity, especially with artisan products. Add photos of your process, studio, or even you working â it builds trust.
2. Theme & User Experience
If youâre considering a new theme, look for ones that are:
-
Mobile-optimized (most traffic is mobile)
-
Built for conversion (clear product pages, call-to-actions, fast loading)
-
Visual-friendly (great for showcasing jewelry)
A few Shopify themes I recommend for jewelry brands:
-
Prestige (premium but high-converting and elegant)
-
Dawn (free, fast, and flexible)
-
Flow or Startup (clean and minimalist, great for storytelling)
3. Traffic & Marketing
If youâre only getting 1 sale every two months, itâs likely a traffic issue as much as a conversion one. Ask yourself:
-
How many visitors do you get per month?
-
Are you driving traffic via Instagram, Pinterest, email, or SEO?
You might want to:
-
Run a simple ad campaign (e.g., Instagram or Facebook carousel ads)
-
Start growing an email list (with a popup offering 10% off)
-
Add reviews/testimonials for social proof
-
Optimize for SEO: use keywords like handcrafted Montana jewelry, artisan silver necklace, etc.
4. Next Step
Iâd be happy to take a quick look at your current site and offer tailored feedback if youâd like â theme structure, homepage layout, or even SEO suggestions. Sometimes small tweaks can make a big difference.
Youâve already done the hardest part â starting and sticking with it. Now letâs focus on leveling up your online presence and driving the right kind of traffic.
Wishing you success,

Hey @Katdob,
I took a look at your store, and I want to focus on a few things that could help boost your sales.
Since many people have already covered SEO and other tips, letâs focus strictly on the sales side of things.
Point 1
Optimize your cart page. No sticky cart, progress bar, upselling or cross-selling effort found. Since youâve products that you can upsell or cross-sell on the cart, give it a try to get some additional sales at checkout.
Point 2
Try bundling your products. Create a bundle and sell it at a discount rate.
Point 3
As I mentioned in the earlier point, add a progress bar to your cart. It motivates the customers to buy more to get an extra discount or free shipping on what theyâve purchased.
Finally, Iâd suggest not using multiple apps for cart optimization. It can quickly get expensive. Instead, look for an all-in-one solution like iCart. It handles upselling, cart optimization, and more, without the need for a ton of different apps.
Hi @Katdob,
I had a look at your store - itâs great that youâve kept it up for a few years, but I think the main opportunity lies in refreshing the overall look and feel. First, decide what you want your store to represent: clean and minimal, bold and vibrant, or something more street-inspired. That vision will guide your theme choice.
From my perspective, a few design updates could really help. Your logo would look stronger if it were simplified and more polished. The main banner at the top should feel more professional and eye-catching, since itâs the first impression visitors get. Product displays also need to stand out more - right now the site feels a bit too plain. Adding sharper visuals and clearer product presentation will bring more life to your storefront.
Beyond visuals, youâll want to work on trust-building: detailed product descriptions, customer reviews, transparent shipping and return policies, and social proof all make visitors feel more confident in purchasing.
On top of that, donât forget SEO and marketing channels. Driving the right traffic with search optimization, organic content, and the right ad campaigns will bring in more qualified visitors. You might also explore affiliate tools like UpPromote as an additional channel to expand reach and build credibility through influencers.
Wishing you the best as you continue improving your store. I hope you see more consistent sales soon! ![]()
Hey there @Katdob here are some pieces of advice on how your store could be improved.
- You should have sections for best sellers and latest arrivals on the homepage.
- The best way to showcase trustworthiness which is an invaluable quality on Shopify, is to include reviews from customers who have already tried your products.
- Lastly, you should have a section for FAQs on the homepage as well.
Thanks everyone! I am working on a new theme at the moment. I will work on all the suggestions as time permits. Lots of helpful advice
