I have two stores in the same building. The stock is always moving between the two stores. I think it would make it easier if i put the two stores under one location. If so would I be able to see the two stores POS analytics separately?
For example:
Location: Shop A
POS 1
POS 2

In Shopify POS, if you combine both stores under a single location, the analytics for both stores will be aggregated, as the system tracks sales and inventory at the location level. However, there are ways to work around this if you want to view POS analytics separately for each store:
Create Separate Locations: If it’s critical to see analytics separately, you could set up each store as a separate location in Shopify. This way, you’ll have a distinct set of analytics for each store, and stock movement between the two can still be tracked. You can transfer stock between locations in Shopify, but the analytics and inventory will remain separated.
Use POS Profiles for Individual POS Analytics: Shopify allows you to configure multiple POS devices (POS profiles) under one location. Although the data will still be aggregated at the location level, you can track sales by device. This method allows you to differentiate between POS 1 and POS 2 at a high level.
Use Reports and Filters: Shopify provides customizable reports that can help you filter data by POS or other criteria. You might be able to use these to segment data by POS within the same location, though it may not be as precise as having two completely separate locations.
Third-Party Reporting Apps: Consider using Shopify reporting apps like Data Export, Report Pundit, or Better Reports to create more detailed, customized reports that break down your sales by POS or even by specific products or categories.
By setting up a combination of separate locations and custom reporting, you should be able to get a clear view of your POS analytics for each store.
