Hey @saqlain1 ,

If you’re just getting started, I’d focus on learning how email marketing works before worrying too much about which app to use.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

Popups help collect email addresses from visitors by offering something valuable, such as a discount or exclusive updates.

Subscribers are the people who have opted in to receive your marketing emails.

Campaigns are one time emails, such as announcing a sale, launching a new product, or sharing seasonal promotions.

Automations are emails sent automatically based on customer actions, such as a welcome series, abandoned cart reminders, post purchase follow ups, or win back emails.

In terms of generating revenue, automation is often where email marketing delivers the biggest return. For example, abandoned cart emails can recover sales that would otherwise be lost, while welcome and post purchase flows help build long term customer relationships.

Large brands typically don’t rely only on promotional emails. They combine automated flows with targeted campaigns, customer segmentation, personalized recommendations, and consistent communication throughout the customer journey.

As for Shopify Email/Messaging vs. Cwill, if you’re a complete beginner, I’d recommend starting with Shopify’s built in tools. They’re easy to set up, integrate seamlessly with your store, and are more than sufficient for learning the fundamentals. As your business grows and you need more advanced segmentation or automation, you can then evaluate whether a platform like Cwill offers additional features that fit your needs.

The most important thing isn’t the platform it’s building a quality subscriber list and sending relevant emails that provide value to your customers.

Thank You !

@saqlain1 ,
Keep it simple in the beginning. A lot of new store owners think email marketing is just sending promotional emails but its much more than that.

The first thing you need is a popup to collect email subscribers. Once people join your list set up a few basic automations like a welcome email, abandoned cart recovery and a postpurchase follow up. Those three flows usually bring in the most revenue with very little ongoing work.

Campaigns are different theyare the emails you send manually for things like new product launches, sales, or holiday offers.

If you are just starting, Shopify Email is perfectly fine and easy to use. As your store grows and you want more advanced segmentation and automation you can move to a platform like Klaviyo.

My advice is not to worry about using every feature from day one. Focus on building your subscriber list first, then create a few good automations and you will have a much stronger foundation than trying to do everything at once.

Is there any vidio or anything for set up all this? On day one

From where i can learn copywriting and all the stuff to write the email like Any? Case studies and anything that gives me that this how email marketing works this how big giant of this game send email and make connections with their custumers etc….

Yes! Since you’re starting from scratch, I’d recommend following Shopify’s official tutorials first. They explain everything step by step from setting up Shopify Email and collecting subscribers to creating campaigns and automations.

HI @saqlain1

If you’re just starting out, don’t worry about mastering every feature at once. The goal of email marketing is simple: turn visitors into subscribers, subscribers into customers, and customers into repeat buyers.

Here’s a beginner-friendly breakdown:

1. Popups

A popup is shown to visitors to collect their email address (or phone number).

What works:

  • Offer 10–15% off the first order.

  • Offer free shipping.

  • Give early access to new products or sales.

The more subscribers you collect, the more people you can market to without paying for ads.

2. Subscribers

These are people who have permitted you to contact them.

Try to grow your list through:

  • Website popups

  • Checkout opt-ins

  • Footer signup forms

  • Social media and landing pages

Your email list is one of your most valuable business assets because you own it.

3. Campaigns

Campaigns are one-time emails you send to everyone or a specific segment.

Examples:

  • New product launches

  • Holiday sales

  • Flash sales

  • Restock notifications

  • Weekly newsletters

4. Automations (Most Important)

Automations are emails that send automatically based on customer behavior.

Every store should have these:

  • Welcome Series – Sent after someone subscribes. Introduce your brand and offer a first-purchase incentive.

  • Abandoned Cart – Reminds shoppers to complete their purchase. This is usually one of the highest-converting automations.

  • Browse Abandonment – Follows up with visitors who viewed products but didn’t add them to the cart.

  • Post-Purchase – Thanks customers, shares care instructions, and encourages reviews.

  • Win-Back – Re-engages customers who haven’t purchased in a few months.

5. Segments

Don’t send every email to everyone.

Create groups such as:

  • New subscribers

  • First-time customers

  • Repeat customers

  • High-value customers

  • Customers who haven’t purchased recently

This keeps your emails more relevant and improves engagement.

6. What Big Brands Do

Successful brands don’t just send discounts.

They also send:

  • Educational content

  • Product recommendations

  • Back-in-stock alerts

  • New arrivals

  • Customer stories

  • Tips and how-to guides

  • Loyalty rewards

  • Personalized offers based on shopping behavior

Their automated email flows often generate a significant portion of total email revenue.

Shopify Email vs. Cwill

If you’re a beginner, Shopify Email is a great place to start because:

  • It’s built into Shopify.

  • Easy to set up.

  • No complex configuration.

  • Works well for newsletters and basic automations.

If Cwill provides more advanced automation, segmentation, or AI features, you can always switch later as your business grows. There’s no need to start with a complex platform unless you already need those advanced capabilities.

My recommendation would be:

  1. Start with Shopify Email.

  2. Set up a popup.

  3. Create a Welcome flow.

  4. Enable Abandoned Cart emails.

  5. Send 1–2 campaigns per week.

  6. Review your open rates, click rates, and sales, then optimize over time.

Those six steps alone can help you generate your first revenue from email marketing without feeling overwhelmed.

For a step-by-step setup video, your best move is searching “Shopify Email tutorial” or “Shopify Email setup for beginners” directly on YouTube - Shopify posts official walkthroughs there, and they get updated as the interface changes, which is more reliable than an old post here linking to a video that may already be outdated.

For copywriting specifically, a few directions worth pursuing rather than a single source:

  • Study your own inbox. Sign up for email lists of 5-10 brands you actually like (in your niche or outside it - the writing techniques transfer). Watch what they send in the first week (usually a welcome series) - that’s a live, current case study of what “big brands” actually do, updated in real time, and completely free.
  • Look at your competitors’ popups and welcome emails specifically, since that’s the exact type of writing you’ll need first. Sign up for a few, see what offer they lead with, how long their emails are, what tone they use.
  • Practice writing short before long. A lot of new email writers over-explain. The best-performing subject lines and opening lines are usually short, direct, and benefit-focused (“20% off ends tonight” beats a clever pun). Start there before worrying about long-form copywriting theory.

Given how many good, thorough answers are already in this thread (steve, rshrivastava63, and the last detailed breakdown), you genuinely have everything you need to start - the fastest path now is just picking one platform (Shopify Email, as suggested) and setting up your first popup + welcome flow this week, rather than researching more before starting.
