This might be a weird question, but when I go to my site. It does not feel like a welcoming, self-help space for women with ADHD. I have a podcast and social media community, and I sell merch. I eventually want to add digital products and some dropshipped products.
What can I do to make my homepage more about my brand and getting support and less about my merch as the first thing? I guess like a landing page and blog vibe FIRST then merch and resources can be secondary?
This isn’t a weird question at all! I completely understand why you would want your home page to be a welcoming space and I’m happy to help you out with this! Which theme are you currently using to design your website? Do you have any examples of how you would like your website to look?
My first suggestion is to re-design your home page so that it displays information about the community you’ve developed first. You can do this by customizing the sections and blocks you are using on your home page. There are many sections you can choose from including a section for blog posts, sections for text and images, etc. You can also move these sections around to display them in the order you’d like. For example, with your merch and products below your other sections. You can read more about the different sections typically available on this page. You can also read more about using sections and blocks on this page here.
I’ve included a screenshot below showing an example of a homepage with a few different sections. You can see that in this example the products and collections are displayed underneath the other sections.
Another suggestion I have is to keep accessibility in mind while designing your home page. We have a great guide on Accessibility for themes on this page that I think will help make your home page even more welcoming for visitors.
I also wanted to share some resources that will help you out with your future goals. I’ve included some guides on selling digital products as well as dropshipping.
