“Hi, I’m located in Nigeria and plan to purchase a Shopify plan. I want to confirm if prepaid virtual cards, like those issued by “ALAT by Wema”, are accepted for billing. Can you confirm compatibility?”
Hello @Eyrie_Mart ,
Shopify primarily supports major credit/debit cards like Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX. While specific information about the compatibility of ALAT by Wema’s prepaid virtual cards isn’t directly mentioned, prepaid cards with these major logos are generally accepted on Shopify stores.
It’s best to try adding your prepaid virtual card in Shopify’s payment methods or contact Shopify support to confirm compatibility.
I hope this helps! Any other questions or thoughts on your Shopify plans?
Best regards,
David Scott
Shopify is very picky with cards because their system requires support for recurring billing, which most local cards don’t have.
I use Cardtonic for my store’s monthly fees because it’s a dedicated dollar card and doesn’t get rejected by their payment gateway. It helps to keep a separate balance just for your business expenses so you can track your overhead better. Just make sure the card is funded at least 24 hours before the bill is due to avoid any service interruptions.
