Warning: Deceptive Billing by AliDrop & Dropshiptool (FTC Report #199868145)

WARNING: Fraudulent Billing & “Dark Patterns” by AliDrop and Dropshiptool (FTC Report #199868145)

Mesaj İçeriği (Body)

Hello Shopify Community,

I am writing this to warn fellow merchants about a highly deceptive and fraudulent practice I experienced with two apps: Dropshiptool and AliDrop (Innovation Laboratories Inc.). I have already filed an official fraud report with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding this matter (Report #199868145 ).

Here is the timeline of the “Subscription Trap”:

Trial Sign-up: On March 22, 2026, I signed up for $1.99 trials for both apps on my store imece365.myshopify.com.

Non-functional Service: Upon installation, Dropshiptool showed all items as “Out of Stock” and forced a redirect to AliDrop for “real products,” creating a double-subscription trap.

  • Intentional Blocking of Cancellation: Realizing the apps were useless, I tried to cancel immediately. However, the “Cancel” button in both apps was intentionally disabled or unresponsive. There were no support or feedback buttons available within the apps.

The Unauthorized Charge: On March 29, after I briefly unfroze my card for another transaction, both apps bypassed the faulty system and charged me $54.00 (Dropshiptool) and $74.99 (AliDrop).

Miraculous “Fix”: The “Cancel” button only started working immediately AFTER the payments were processed. I canceled within minutes of the charge, but they refused to refund.

Invalid Contact Info: The support emails provided by Shopify for these developers were invalid. I only reached them after Shopify intervened, but they only offered a 20% refund, which is an attempt to legally justify keeping 80% of my money for a service I never used and tried to cancel.

Conclusion: This is a clear case of “Dark Patterns” used to prevent cancellation and force unauthorized payments. This is financial extortion, not a “no-refund policy” issue.

I am requesting the Shopify App Integrity Team to investigate these developers. I demand a full refund of $128.99. I have provided the FTC report to both Shopify Support and my payment provider (Wise).
