We made our inventory app completely free - here's what we learned in the first month

Three weeks ago we made Nventory free. Permanently.

Not a trial. Not a freemium tier with useful features locked. The full platform. Free forever.

Wanted to share what actually changed because I think it’s relevant to how sellers in this community think about the tools they use.

Sellers stopped evaluating and started integrating.

The difference is significant. A seller on a 14-day trial asks “is this worth the cost?” A seller on a free plan asks “how do I get the most out of this?” Completely different relationship with the product and completely different outcome.

Integration depth increased.

Sellers connected all their channels properly not just one or two to test the waters. They built automations for their actual workflows. They routed real orders through the system. By the time they were using Nventory seriously it was genuinely embedded in how they operate.

Feedback got sharper.

Trial users asked about pricing tiers. Free users asked about specific edge cases in their workflows. One set of feedback is noise. The other makes the product better.

The honest reason we made this call: the sellers paying the highest price for bad inventory infrastructure absorbing oversells, reconciling spreadsheets on Sunday mornings, logging into five dashboards every day are the ones least able to justify another subscription.

So we removed the barrier.

Real-time sync across 40+ channels. Unified orders. AI automation in plain English. Smart order routing. Multi-carrier shipping. Permanently free.

Curious whether free actually changes how you evaluate a tool or whether it makes you more skeptical. Would love honest reactions from this community.
