'Website needs improvement' policy is vague

Having a frustrating experience while trying to fix the issue with GMC’s “Website needs improvement” policy related suspension. I’ve thoroughly read the policy guidelines and “what to do” section in the suspension decision emails, updated website page by page but still couldn’t figure out the exact element/part of the website needs improvement. What bothers me the most is the “Google found this issue through a manual check” part in the notification, I thought that if the check is done manually, wouldn’t a specific feedback on the shopify store’s website be more useful and efficient?

Further, as more and more shopify stores look pretty similar nowadays (header/footer/about us page/content positioning…), Would it be possible for Google provide a more detailed or more in-sync guidelines specifically for Shopify platform users on what are the must-have elements on the store to avoid triggering “Website needs improvement” policy violation?

Hello Darabara, thank you for your question. You are not alone in this situation. Google has a policy that if you are suspended, they will not give any specifics. This started around 2020, when there were a lot of scammers, and bad actors abusing Google Shopping. To avoid these users from knowing what to do, to get approved, Google decided to not share specifics, and make everything as vague as possible.

This means good, honest merchants get flagged as well, and have a difficult time getting approved.

So no, they will not share what you need to fix.

No, Google will not provide more guidelines to specifically fix Shopify stores for the issue related to above.

Website needs improvement usually relates to missing policies, or missing content on the website. I deal with these issues on a weekly basis.
