I’m about to start programming my store and want to make sure this issue does not happen to me… Here’s the issue: I came across a very well built Shopify website (https://maguireshoes.com) that couldn’t load properly and I couldn’t figure out why. Even more odd is the fact that we had two identically set up computers and on the other, it was loading just fine… This is my number one concern when it comes to web development and I want to make sure I make the right choice using Shopify before programming everything. Here are some more parameters to help trouble shoot the problem as well as a photo of both computers rendering the content differently.
- Both computers are M1 Pro MBPs running the same OS build OS X 12.3 (21E230) and the same Safari build 15.4 (17613.1.17.1.6)
- Both computers are on the same internet connection without VPN.
- The problem only seems to affect Safari as with the problematic machine, Chrome was loading fine.
- No Safari extensions were enabled on the problematic computer.
- Everything points to a style sheet not loading properly, in spite of several Restart / Empty Cache operations…
- The error console only shows one serious problem that has to do with a JS mapping ties to the theme used which does not seem to affect the website at all. They both show this error.
- The use of Dark mode on the problematic computer does not seem to affect the behaviour.
- I tried loading it today on a different connection, I’m still getting this bad display error
Unfortunately Shopify doesn’t want to help as this is not my website… I see where they are coming from, but it doesn’t help build confidence in the platform as I couldn’t imagine myself in this situation. Any leads as to why this doesn’t want to load properly?
Thanks
