Our website is showing this error when customers search - how do we rectify this issue?
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner reports their website is displaying an error when customers attempt to access it, preventing the site from loading properly.
Root Cause Identified:
- DNS settings are incorrectly configured
- Likely occurred after a recent domain transfer
- Domain is not properly pointing to Shopify’s servers
Recommended Solution:
- Connect/reconnect the domain to the Shopify store through admin settings
- Update DNS records according to Shopify’s documentation
- May require accessing domain registrar’s control panel to modify settings
- Allow up to 48 hours for DNS propagation and domain verification
Status: Issue remains unresolved; awaiting store owner to implement DNS configuration changes.
Your DNS settings are wrong. I assume you just transferred the domain in? It needs to also be pointing at Shopify correctly or it won’t work. There’s instructions that cover what the settings should be, you may also need the help docs of your domain host to know where the settings must be changed. https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/domains/add-a-domain/connecting-domains/connect-domain-manual
Hello @bkfloral ,
Do not worry. This can be fixed easily.
You need to connect your domain with your Shopify store, once you are done with it, it will take 48 hours to verify your domain, and then your domain gets connected successfully.
