Hello Shopify Community,

My website yemzi.com doesn’t work with www.

I spoke with GoDaddy, everything is correct their side and they said shopify would have to correct this redirection issue.

How can I get this issue fixed?

To resolve the issue of your website not working with the www. prefix on Shopify, follow these steps:

1. Verify Domain Settings in Shopify- Log in to your Shopify Admin.

  • Go to Settings > Domains.
  • Ensure that your primary domain is set to www.yemzi.com.
  • Shopify automatically redirects the non-www version (e.g., yemzi.com) to the www version if it’s set as the primary domain.

2. Check DNS Settings in GoDaddy

Confirm that your DNS settings in GoDaddy are correctly pointing to Shopify.

  • A Record: Ensure the root domain [email removed] is pointing to Shopify’s IP address: 23.227.38.65.
  • CNAME Record: Ensure the www record is pointing to shops.myshopify.com.

Example of correct DNS settings:

@      A      23.227.38.65
www    CNAME  shops.myshopify.com

3. Verify Shopify Redirection

If the DNS settings are correct, Shopify automatically redirects yemzi.com to www.yemzi.com or vice versa (depending on which is set as the primary domain). If this isn’t happening:

  • Go to Settings > Domains in Shopify.
  • Click Manage next to your domain.
  • Ensure Automatic redirection is enabled.

4. Flush DNS Cache

DNS changes may take some time to propagate (up to 48 hours). If you recently made changes, clear your browser’s cache and flush the DNS on your local device to test again.

On Windows:

ipconfig /flushdns

On macOS:

sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

5. Contact Shopify Support

If everything seems correct but the issue persists, contact Shopify Support:

  • Explain the issue.
  • Share the DNS settings from GoDaddy.
  • Request Shopify to troubleshoot the redirection issue on their end.
