Website shows old company name

I rebranded recently from Homefront Habitat to The Leisurely Gentleman. I switch so that theleisurelygentleman.com would be my primary domain. Yet it, and other domains like each product domain, say “Homefront Habitat - The Leisurely Gentleman” as if Homefront Habitat still owns The Leisurely Gentleman. I don’t want Homefront Habitat to be mentioned anywhere. How do I fix this?

Thanks!

Ced

Hey @Ced74 ,

In order to ensure that your current website doesn’t show the content related to the previous domain then you need to ensure make changes from the theme customization.

You can follow these steps:

Go to Shopify Admin >> Click on Online Store >> themes >> Customization.

In the customization you need to go the page where you see the previous domain related content. Go to the page and inspect the section from the Shopify inspector. And then you need to click the section and change the content.

By following these steps you can ensure to change the content from the old website.

Hi @Ced74

To verify your said situation, I have made a test by searching your website on Google, and it is exactly like what you mentioned in this topic. Different brand names appear in search results, though under same domain on my end after checking.

It seems like you have updated the store brand into a new one, but Google has not known your changes yet. In my opinion, I suggest you proactively submit your store branding changes to Google and let Google know your changes or fasten the speed of knowing your changes. Here are some methods you can work on the store, please kindly note here below. Thank you!

  1. Make sure you have already added and connected the new store URLs to Google Search Console properly.

  2. Submit the latest XML sitemap page in Google Search Console.

  3. Request Google to reindex your updated web pages. You can use this feature in Google Search Console to make it work. Though it is not guaranteed to be effective immediately, it will improve the efficiency of reindexing your store on Google end.

  4. If you have a local store or business, make sure update your brand name and related information from Google Business Profile correctly, so that it can sync with search results properly as well.

You may need to give Google some time to know the changes still, as it is not controlled by our side. But if you stick to the updates and changes made according to my methods here, you will see the changes after several weeks. Please be patient, wait and see the further progress, a kind reminder here!
