Website working on desktop but not on mobile or tablet

I thought it’s supposed to work on all devices for 48 hours, but it’s already been 4 days! My domain is working on the laptop but not on mobile or tablet.

Hello @patriciachua
Welcome to the Shopify Community! Kindly share your store URL and password (if it is password-protected), so that I can review it and provide you with an accurate solution.

hello @patriciachua Thanks for the info — if your website works on desktop but not on mobile or tablet, even after several days, there are a few possible issues to investigate:

Common Causes & Fixes

  1. DNS Propagation Issues

. Although DNS propagation usually finishes within 48 hours, it can take longer in some cases, especially for mobile networks.

. Fix: Try clearing your mobile device’s DNS cache by restarting the device or toggling Airplane Mode. You can also try accessing the site on mobile using a different network (e.g. switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data).

  1. SSL Certificate Misconfiguration

. Some mobile browsers are stricter about SSL certificates. If there’s a problem with the HTTPS setup, it might load fine on desktop but fail on mobile.

. Fix: Check your SSL certificate using tools like SSL Labs to make sure it’s valid and fully installed.

  1. Responsive Design or Viewport Issues

. If the site isn’t built responsively, it might appear broken or blank on smaller screens.

. Fix: Confirm your site uses a responsive framework (like Bootstrap) or CSS media queries. You can test responsiveness using Chrome DevTools’ mobile view.

  1. Firewall or Security Rules

. Some firewalls or CDN services (like Cloudflare) might block certain user agents or IP ranges, affecting mobile access.

. Fix: Check your hosting or CDN settings to make sure mobile traffic isn’t being blocked or throttled.

  1. Cached Redirects or Errors

. Your desktop might be loading a cached version, while mobile gets a broken redirect or 404.

. Fix: Use https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com or try mobile browsers in incognito mode to test from a fresh state.

Next Steps
. What is your domain name? I can check its DNS and SSL status for you.

. Have you tested the site on multiple mobile devices or browsers?

Thank you

As per your query, it seems to be a responsiveness issue with your site.
You can share details i.e URL and password (if it is password-protected), to be confirmed it.

There may likely be DNS or SSL issue with your domain. Could you share your store URL and password if any? @patriciachua

Hi @patriciachua

I feel sad to hear this issue from you. If possible, could you please elaborate more about the issues happening on mobile or tablet when viewing your store? This may be helpful for me to further check this issue and share you some opinions from my end, as one of my friends encountered a very similar issue before and let’s see if works for you as well, thank you.

There may be a caching issue, DNS propagation delay, or a configuration problem specific to mobile networks. While DNS changes typically propagate within 48 hours, in some cases it can take longer depending on the network or device cache. Try clearing the browser cache on your mobile and tablet, or test using a different mobile network or Wi-Fi connection. You can also check your site’s mobile responsiveness and DNS settings using online tools like whatsmydns website and Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test.

If the problem persists, it might be worth checking your hosting provider or domain settings as happened to my site https://themagistvapp.com/ to ensure there are no mobile-specific restrictions or misconfigurations.
