What are the best POD companies for sustainable business costs?

I use Printful to print my tees but they charge me when an order goes through - this isn’t sustainable. What POD companies are the best ones to work with and use the money that customers pay (rather than charging me and me having to wait for Shopify payouts days later)?

Hey, @KAW

What is your current struggle with how you work with Printful to fulfill your orders?

The short answer is this is likely not possible. A print-on-demand company is going to set their payment structure so that you pay for their product, and then they deliver the product. Much like how you charge your customer for a product, with the agreement that you will deliver it to them.

Dropshipping models do not work the way you describe because your business is essentially the middle-person. You charge the customer, order the product(s) on the customer’s behalf, and the supplier fulfills the order for you. The banks will always still have their processing and payout times that are factored in.

Your only alternative is to charge the customer, wait for your payout to go through, then order the product for the customer once the funds reach your bank account. However, the problem with that is you are now increasing the wait time for the customer by an additional 3-5 business days depending on your payment processor. There may be some print-on-demand apps out there that allow you to manually push one of your Shopify orders onto them when you are ready to pay the supplier for the product, but at the end of the day, I think that will reduce your brand trust as you will have longer fulfillment times that your customer isn’t expecting.

I hope this helps! If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
