What does Approaching usage charge spending limit means

Hello there,

We have a live Shopify app and we are charging usage charges based on some criteria. However for one client we can see an entry in App History section as shown in the below image.

What does this mean? What action should we take to resolve it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey @user072319 ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some guidance on spending limits for apps. This limit is used to determine the maximum amount an app can charge to the merchant in its billing cycle.

As this merchant is almost at their limit, you can point them to our App Usage Charge documentation for guidance on how to potentially increase this. If the app is included in the beta feature, the merchant can:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to your billing settings page:
  • United States: From your Shopify admin, go to Finances > Billing.

  • All other countries: From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Billing.

  1. Click View all subscriptions.

  2. Click ... next to the app.

  3. Click View spending limit.

  4. Enter an amount in the NEW APP SPENDING LIMIT field. The new amount must be greater than your current app spending limit. The app usage charge that’s shown here might differ from what’s shown on your invoice. The most up-to-date app usage charge is shown here.

  5. Select the checkbox to acknowledge that you’re changing your app spending limit.

  6. Click Save.

  7. Click Confirm.
