What happened to the search bar?

Please bring back the Static Search Bar. It adds more steps to click the search button. Horrible change in design.

As of recently, the search bar design change has been updated across the platform. I understand that this may have caused a disruption to your workflow. I’m happy to submit your feedback to our developers to look into implementing this change in the future. I recommend keeping the Shopify Changelog handy to stay up to date with new features rolled out on the platform.

I have to agree with this post. The previous search bar setup was more efficient. Yet again Shopify has now added additional clicks to our process to a simple step. I placed an order with another supplier that also uses Shopify, he is also not impressed with this change. Our time is valuable and Shopify continues to use it up. Bring back the original setup for easy access and usability, the change makes no sense.

Do you truly value our feedback? Because it certainly doesn’t feel like it. We’re telling you that this is a bad change. Please consider your customers and change it back. The rollback of functionality on Shopify is beyond frustrating.

This is a horrendous change. The search is used every time we go to the orders section or product section, adding an unnecessary click to open a dropdown is horrible user experience. At least make it an option to toggle it keep it down permanently. What is the ETA for the fix?

Have you ever heard of usability testing? Please implement before you make insane “design” changes. I really don’t want to be rude but your designers are not good, and your developers have no idea how people actually use the site.

Hi Victoria - just wondering the status of your request? Do your developers ever respond to these requests? Can you please please please reverse this very bad update, it is wasting a lot of time for your users and causing a lot of frustration and anger at Shopify.

Hi Victoria,

It’s been over a month, and you’ve had a lot of feedback from the community that this was an unpopular change, making us all less efficient. What’s the status of returning a search bar to the product and orders pages of Shopify’s Admin.?

Are we getting the old search function back? The new one is a terrible design! Extremely frustrating experience. I have tried to ‘get used’ to this search bar, but it just doesn’t work as well as the previous design and there are more clicks than necessary.
