Hello @cbrown218 , There will not happen anything in terms of automated process, but yes customer can cancel the order and an refund will be issue to the customer.

It’s better to add a Pre-order instead of an Add-to-cart for such products. In that way, users will know that this is a pre-order and they will need to wait for a few days. You can also add the note for all those products for who you’re offering the pre-orders.

So, in case they already have made the order then it’s best to reach out to theme before delivery date and sort out your queries and provide confidence to your customers that there is a deliay in shipment but you will receive the order.
