What is an "approved partner" and how to become one?

hey

I’m going through the API documentation (https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/payments) and it mentions an “approved Partner” with no link to it (full quote: “Only approved Partners can build payments apps on Shopify’s Payments Platform.”)

the official website (https://www.shopify.com/partners) does not mention this term.

can somebody explain to me what it is and how one can obtain this status?

if we were to release a payment integration - would we have to obtain this status or should the company that will develop the Shopify plugin for us obtain this status?

Hi Radek-Tiltup,

Currently our Payments Platform for building payment apps is by invitation only, and there’s a note that addresses this on the apps/payments page here: https://shopify.dev/docs/apps/payments#payments-partner-application-review

New payment apps can only be created by invitation only while we continue to build out our Payments Apps API and work through migrating existing partners to the latest platform. When applications fully reopen, there will be a Payment Partner Application form available to fill out. It’s likely that form will be available on the payments doc linked above.
