We are transferring our domain to Shopify from a third party provider. the original provider is asking us for an “IPS tag” for Shopify in order to complete the domain transfer. I asked Shopify support who didn’t seem to know what it was, can anybody help?

An ‘IPS tag’ refers to a ‘Internet Provider Security tag’ that’s used to identify domain registrars! Our Authenticated Support Team should be able to provide you with Shopify’s IPS tag per your request, so it’s definitely odd that our Support Team wasn’t able to provide it. I recommend that you use the link I provided you to connect with our Help Center so our AI Assistant can connect you with one of our Advisors so we can help you get this information. Additionally, if you already spoke to our Authenticated Support Team via the Help Center, you should have received an email regarding the conversation. You can follow up directly with that email to request the IPS tag again directly.
I am asking the same question on the Authenticated Support Team link you provided and it says
“To get the IPS tag for your domain, please contact your domain registrar directly. Shopify does not manage or provide IPS tags for domains”
this contradicts the information you provided so I am not sure how to find it if your method doesn’t work
