I usually add product images by uploading them on the product page when creating a product or updating an image. I recently updated a bunch of images and ran an SEO scan after. The scan flagged every updated image as “Page has broken images”. Suck because they are now deleted.
After that, I uploaded a few product images via the Content/Files page instead of directly on the product page. I added the product image with the copy link button to the product page.

What is the difference between adding product images via the content/files or straight on the edit product page?

What is the preferred method and/or pros and cons of either way?

If I now update the images I recently uploaded to the content/files with a new one, will the replaced image (and its link/URL) remain and not be deleted like when done directly on the product page?
I want to update a bunch, and I would appreciate any feedback on the best way.
