What manual discount tasks eat up your time? (Building 3 free Shopify Flow templates for top ideas!)

Hi everyone,

Our dev team has been building Shopify Flow integrations to help merchants automate complex discount strategies without the daily manual work.

Instead of simple scheduling, we’ve been testing flows that react to live store data in real time:

  • Low stock protection: Pauses discounts on bestsellers when inventory drops below your safety threshold, then turns them back on after a restock.

  • Slow-moving inventory: Scans products daily and applies volume discounts to items with zero sales in 30 days.

  • Weather triggers: Launches flash offers when local weather hits specific conditions like rain or extreme heat.

  • Post-refund win-backs: Sends a targeted discount right after a refund is processed while intent is still warm.

  • Expiry date clearance: Reads expiry metafields and automatically increases discounts as products get closer to expiration.

We want to expand this library with real-world edge cases that merchants actually face every day.

Free offer for this board: We will build custom Shopify Flow templates completely for free for the top 3 most upvoted ideas in the comments below.

We also have templates for quiet-hour pricing, out-of-stock variant drops, team launch alerts, and more.

What manual discount or promo workflows are taking up your team’s time? Drop your ideas or upvote others, and we’ll start building the top ones!

Thanks!

Nice set. If you’re taking more ideas, here’s one: a margin guard on the tiers themselves.

Everything here reacts to stock, time, weather, or something the customer does. Nothing watches cost though, and with quantity breaks that’s the thing that bites you. Your deepest tier is also your thinnest margin, so the second a supplier nudges prices up or shipping gets more expensive, “buy 10, save 20%” can quietly go underwater. And nobody catches it, because you set the tiers once and never look at them again until you’re staring at the month’s numbers wondering where the profit went.

So on the daily scan, check the margin at the deepest tier of each live offer. If it dips under a floor you set, drop the offer back to the last tier that still makes money and ping the team - don’t kill the whole offer over one bad tier. For stores that don’t track cost, a plain price floor would do the same job.

Honestly the best part is it makes people less scared of deep tiers. The usual worry is “won’t this eat my margin,” and this just answers it. I’d use it.

Spot on, Tiffanyy! Most promo logic ignores rising costs until month-end when you realize deep discount tiers ate all the profit.

Rolling back to the last profitable tier instead of killing the whole campaign is super clever. Adding this margin guard to our build queue right now.

Thanks for sharing!
