I was wondering what the rules are for a basket to be classed as “abandoned”. I’ve tried to abandon a basket myself and my basket was not selected to be shown in the abandoned checkouts page on the admin screen nor on the shopify abandoned checkout orders API.
-
How far down the checkout funnel does a customer need to go to be classed as abandoned?
-
Is there any dwell time which needs to be met?
-
is there a time lag which needs to pass before an abandoned order is created?
Thanks
Hi, I am using the Shopify abandoned Checkout App and am very happy with it. So far I have about a 20% conversion rate, the average is around 8%.
In your dashboard go to marketing - automation - abandoned checkout.
The app is fairly foolproof to set up, you can just accept all and away you go.
Here is a screen shot of the workflow.
You can send a test email to yourself to view the email as the customer would see it.
If you want you can edit how the email looks with the very easy to use editor.
Try a purchase yourself,(just use normal checkout) remembering that you must enter an email address and your address, get the shipping cost and continue to payments and then close the screen (exit). Wait the 4 hours and see did it arrive in your emails (check spam/junk if not in your inbox)
