Hello everyone,
Many experienced store owners seem to quickly recognize when traffic is unlikely to turn into sales.
When traffic comes in but never converts,
what’s the first metric you look at that tells you this traffic won’t convert?
I’d really appreciate hearing how others identify this early and avoid wasting time and budget.

Thanks a lot! That makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t been focusing on the add to cart rate. Appreciate you sharing what’s been working for you.

The first thing to check when traffic don’t Convert is the quality of the traffic(Who is coming)
Here are the few things to check;
I) Action: Analyze Google Analytics (or your platform’s analytics) to see which channels are bringing traffic but no sales.
II) Check: Are you targeting broad, low-intent keywords? For example, someone searching “cool shoes” (low intent) is less likely to buy than someone searching “buy red Nike Air Max size 10” (high intent).
III) Red Flag: High bounce rates (80%+) and very short session durations (under 30 seconds) indicate you are bringing in the wrong audience.
This would serve as an eye-opener to the next step.
Thank you for your advice. That’s really helpful especially the point about traffic quality. I’ll take a closer look at bounce rate and session duration to understand where the mismatch might be.
