What should be the main focuses for different scale levels?

For a store doing around €5k/month, €10–20k/month, €30–50k/month, and beyond, what should be the top 2–3 priorities at each level?

I find it easy to get busy with tasks that don’t really move the needle. I know ad creatives are always a key lever, but at each of these stages, what other specific activities (campaign structure, tracking, CRO, email/SMS, AOV/LTV work, etc.) usually give the highest ROI on time and budget?

@user3028 that’s a pretty broad question, but I’ll give you my perspective from the CRO side of things.

If you’re doing €5k-20k per month, honestly, optimizing your website’s UX/UI probably shouldn’t be your top priority.

At those levels, you’re better off focusing on:

  • The actual product you’re selling

  • Your unit economics (margins, suppliers, fulfillment costs)

  • Your creative and how you’re acquiring traffic

  • Understanding what your customers actually want

This is especially true if you’re thinking about A/B testing. Testing requires a lot of effort and usually a decent amount of traffic to get meaningful results. If you’re just starting out or at lower revenue levels, that effort is better spent elsewhere.

My recommendation: spend time doing customer research. Talk to your customers, understand what made them buy, what almost stopped them, what they love about the product. Use that to inform your acquisition strategy and product decisions.

Make sure your website is decent and isn’t missing foundational stuff (clear product info, easy checkout, trust signals), but as long as it’s not actively broken or confusing, it probably shouldn’t be your main focus yet.

Once you’re consistently doing €30-50k+ per month, that’s when it makes more sense to start investing in on-site optimization and testing programs.

Hope that helps!
