What to do when Shopify won't recognize my purchased domain name?

I recently purchased a Shopify store but wasn’t given the name I chose. As asked by the Shopify staff, I screenshot, emailed, and even uploaded invoices, bank receipts and all they asked for, but they still refused to accept that they didn’t give me my correct domain name. It has the same wording, but I know it didn’t have any dashes in its name. So disappointing. Plus I paid for a whole month and showed that receipt as well. They told me I didn’t, after showing that receipt. Whatever happened to integrity with these companies? If someone could tell me what I can do about this situation?

Did you register the domain name separately with a different domain name registrar? Or did you just go straight to Shopify and let them attempt to register the domain name? It’s possible that the domain name that you chose isn’t available. I would check https://lookup.icann.org/ to see if the domain name is already registered to someone else, that may be the case. Look for the ‘create date’ on that WHOIS listing to see if the domain name was registered before you paid for the domain name with Shopify.

If you are still having an issue, then I recommend that you find a domain name recovery service or a company that deals with stolen domain names.
