What to expect when switching to Shopify hosting from WordPress?

My current website is a blog on WordPress now I would like to add Shopify to a sub domain (of course!)

So I am happy for Shopify to provide my hosting service from now on for everything i.e. my root domain (blog) and sub domain (Shopify)

But I can’t find much information on the changes I could anticipate with the changeover to Shopify hosting.

At the moment I enjoy the usual FTP access and cPanel. I’m not a power user of cPanel by any means but from time to time I need to go in there and make some adjustment, of something I read about online, (in phpmyadmin for example) or am otherwise advised to do. Other times my host takes care of it.

It doesn’t concern me that I would now use the inbuilt Shopify file manager to transfer files instead of FileZilla as this is straightforward, but I’m in the dark about possible limitations by not having cPanel and can Shopify enable me to make any server settings changes and configurations that I might need to - for my blog as well as Shopify obviously. If an online recommendation describes the steps in cPanel to do something, I would not be able to follow this and be required to achieve the same using Shopify systems - so is this no problem?

Hope you’re having a great day!

Unlike the WordPress platform, Shopify is a cloud-hosted solution so things don’t work the same way as with normal hosting companies. With Shopify, you do not have access to the server where your site is hosted. Therefore, it is clear that you cannot change or configure the server settings.

Shopify takes care of things for you so that you can spend all your time growing your business.

For any customization you may want to do, you can find an application in the Shopify App Store or Shopify Theme Store that can do it for you or you can find help on the forum here. Most of the time you won’t need to change any server configurations.

In terms of simply uploading files to the server to continue my blog activities and all those basic type of webmaster actions, this is obviously still things I can do right?

And my WordPress plugins will all continue to work properly?

Just want to double check that there is no changes to the way I use WordPress in change to Shopify as host. As this is as important as my new shop.
