What's a reasonable image sizes to make page load faster

I notice that my page images are pretty slow to load. Currently my images are of the following size

Banner (Desktop): 2400 x 900

Banner (Mobile): 2300 x 2311

Miscellaneous images: ~400 x 400

any recommendation of how many time i should make it small (Ex. x0.5) and what specification settings would you recommend to make my image load faster?

Hello there

It’s important to optimize your images for web to ensure that they load quickly and don’t slow down your website. Here are some recommendations for optimizing your images:

  1. Resize the images: The size of your images can have a big impact on their loading time. You can reduce the size of your images by resizing them to the dimensions needed for your website. A good rule of thumb is to keep the longest side of your images between 1500-2500 pixels for large images like banners, and around 1000 pixels for smaller images. This should help reduce the file size and improve loading speed.

  2. Compress the images: Compressing your images reduces their file size without sacrificing too much quality. You can use an image optimization tool to compress your images. Shopify has a built-in image optimizer that can compress your images automatically. You can also use third-party tools like TinyPNG or Kraken.io.

  3. Use the right file format: JPEG is a good file format for photographs, while PNG is better for images with text or graphics with few colors. If you need to use a transparent background, use PNG instead of JPEG.
