Hello,
Our company has two similar-looking websites for locations based about 350km apart.
Many of the customers in my area end up ordering on the other website because of links contained in social media or emails that they are incorrectly subscribed to. We have our own warehouses/inventory so customers ordering on the wrong website leaves us vulnerable to making mistakes as we pass order details between the two locations.
What is the best way of stopping this? I was looking at redirection apps but read that these are affecting people’s SEO.
I was also looking at the Local Delivery option which would allow me to restrict customers by radius or postcodes. This issue I have with this is we have a flat delivery fee, however orders of three or more items qualify for free delivery. I can’t seem to find a way to incorporate that into Local Delivery.
I’d love to hear if anyone has any advice!
Hi,
if all items on both websites are the same, I would suggest making one website and create two different Shopify Markets. You can define Delivery options according to the market and Shopify will handle redirection automatically.

That’s interesting - thank you. If Shopify can handle two different inventories and know which one to take each order out of, that might work. There are minor differences in what each site carries but that could be handled with “not available in Xxx region” in the item description.
Thank you. The first three suggestions I will need to investigate more.
From your second set of solutions I think a simple combination of 1 and 3 might work. Each website has a banner stating its location but I don’t think people really see/notice it. We do tell people to place future orders through the correct website to avoid issues, but that’s retrospective once a customer has already ordered on the wrong website.
Your solutions have led to to thinking that while I’m looking closer at your first three options, a simple interim solution might be to have a pop-up on each website announcing the website that have landed on, and links to the other two websites (the third is in another province from which sales are excluded from our two websites, and vice versa).
