What's the difference between economy and standard economy shipping costs?

Hello,

I just made my website live. I am drop shipping items that I will manually place the order for. The option for my customers currently are Economy Shipping $4.90 and the Standard Economy Shipping $6.90. I did not make any edits to these when I created my site. My cost of shipping differs manufacturer to manufacturer, so my question: is there any difference between these 2 shipping costs? I have control over the arrival time with the shipping I choose.

Technically, since I am the one placing the order and choosing shipping the costs projected on my site have no effect on the actual shipping correct?

Hey, @rachelknaack .

Thanks for reaching out in our Community forum. Congratulations on launching your website! I’d be happy to provide some clarification.

You are absolutely correct. The shipping cost given to your customers is completely up to you (currently: Economy Shipping $4.90 and the Standard Economy Shipping $6.90). Once your customer places their order from your website, you will then order the product from the dropshipping company. When you place the order from the dropshipper you will be given a shipping cost.

Typically, dropshipping shipping fees should be used to determine customer-facing shipping fees so that no costs are left on your part as the merchant. But again, that is totally up to you. One thing you might want to consider is the wording for your shipping options. When your customer pays extra for ‘Standard Economy Shipping,’ they might expect their order to arrive more quickly. You will want to keep this in mind when placing the order with your dropshipping company.

The phrasing may need to be altered to reflect your delivery speed so that your customers are aware of the timeline. This will avoid multiple inquires regarding shipping times. For more information, check out of help document: Shipping strategies for dropshipping.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. In the meantime, I’d love to hear more about your business! What type of products will you be selling?
