Looking for advice on the cheapest method to ship from Canada to the US
Currently using Canada Post via shopify.
But wondering what other options people are using and if there is a cheaper alternative

Which Shopify plan are you on currently? Depending on your plan, you can connect a third-party carrier-calculated rate with either Fedex or UPS. A lot of merchants find that creating an account with these carriers and negotiating a rate will be less expensive than using Canada Post for cross-border shipments. It would be worth looking into Fedex or UPS to see how the rates compare when you have an account with them.
On that note, you may be limited with the plan that you’re on since connecting these carriers requires the third-party calculated rates feature only available on the Advanced or Plus plans. However, this feature can be added to your account on any lower tier plan for an additional fee per month or it would be free if you have an annual billing cycle.
With all that being said, some calculations will be required to see which option is the most economical for your business. Those are the native options available to you from Shopify.

As mentioned by @Holly You can choose FedEx or UPS. You can also take a look at other shipping carriers like Purolator, XPO Logistics, Canpar.
