For a small organic food brand entering e-commerce, what’s the single highest-impact AEO change we can make right now on our product pages?
Hi @njannah
This is David from SearchPie here!
The single highest-impact change you can make is creating radically transparent, fact-dense product pages backed by robust schema markup. Since AI models reward clarity and niche depth over domain authority, you must shift from marketing fluff to accessible facts.
Prioritize ingredient transparency by listing exact formulations in plain text, never hidden in images or PDFs. On the backend, inject complete Product schema with specific attributes like material and countryOfOrigin to help AI understand your items’ provenance.
Hope this helps!
On product pages, the biggest move is almost always completing your Product structured data. I call it Entity Integrity.
Most stores have half of it. Name and image, then nothing. They are missing the fields AI actually cites: price, availability, currency, a unique ID (GTIN or SKU), and aggregateRating when you have genuine reviews.
With those missing, an AI engine has no clean facts to quote, so it quotes a competitor it can read instead.
Run one product URL through Google’s Rich Results Test. Look at what is present and what is missing. Fill the gaps. On a product page, that one move beats rewriting your copy.
One action tht you could take into consideration is to add FAQs section to product that answer directly the questions customers ask.
So for your food brand, it could be something such as
- what makes this product organic
- is it certified
- where is it sourced
- what does it taste like
- is it vegan, gluten free,..
Why is it? because it immediately answer the questions they have, traditional search engine understands better, especially with your FAQs schema, and AI engines tend to prefer clearly structured answers that they can read effortlessly
you can use Shopify apps for help as well!
