What's your experience with Shopify Store Pickup?

I’d want to hear your thoughts on how effectively the Shopify In-Store Pickup feature integrates with stores and how this works for both customers and merchants.

If anyone has a physical store, I’d love to learn about your experiences with in-store pickup + Shopify and any backend POS/ERP that runs in the backend.

I don’t have any experience, I’m a beginner.

Updating this to say that they have finally moved store pickup to the same drop down as shipping so customers don’t have to backtrack on the computer, but the problem still exists on mobile (which is how 90% of customers shop).

Personally I think their store pickup is set up very poorly and causes a great deal of frustration to customers, so be prepared for lots of hand-holding and customer service.

In theory, it works well: they can select store pickup, and you have the option to mark an order “ready for pickup” once it’s prepared which sends them a notification, and then you can mark it “picked up” in the system once they come get it. But the problem comes with them getting to select store pickup. It’s not laid out well and customers have to backtrack through the checkout process to find that option if they are a repeat customer. It’s a huge headache and shopify does not seem to care.
