When does email capture for abandoned cart notifications occur?

Does anyone know when does Shopify exactly capture the customer’s email to trigger abandon emails notifications?

Is it on the first checkout page? Or does he need to click on proceed to shipping? Because i chose use billing address for shipping address.

The whole checkout is on 1 page only and there is only the pay now button.

Does shopify still capture the email for abandoned checkout recovery?

The usual procedure is once a customer inputs their email address on the billing page and then leaves/closes the tab, an abandon cart is registered. There is a delay between this event and the email being triggered and the customers details showing in Abandon Cart under Orders, usually around 2-3 hours.
