When will Shopify Payment be available for UAE businesses?

Topic summary

UAE-based Shopify merchants are seeking access to Shopify Payments, which remains unavailable in the region despite a three-year wait. The main challenge is finding suitable payment processors.

Current Payment Obstacles:

  • Stripe now operates in UAE but requires a local company registration number
  • Other payment gateways demand stores be at least 6 months old
  • PayPal is currently the primary option, but not all customers use it
  • PayPal requires redirecting customers to external checkout pages, which may impact conversion

Official Response:

  • Shopify Payments has no confirmed timeline for UAE availability
  • Feedback is being collected and sent to developers
  • Third-party payment gateways remain the only current solution
  • Updates will be posted on Shopify’s Changelog page

PayPal Clarifications:

  • Guest payments (credit card without PayPal account) may be available in some regions
  • Customers cannot complete purchases without leaving the merchant’s checkout page

Status: The discussion remains open with no resolution, as merchants continue seeking viable payment solutions while awaiting Shopify Payments expansion.

Hello

When Shopify Payment will be available for UAE?

Stripe is now accepting UAE.

That’s affect our business, and the other payment gateways need company numbers and a lot of things.

And now I only use PayPal, and not all people use it unfortunately.

It’s been 3 years now I been waiting for Shopify Payment.

And also I have a US company, which I want to use for Shopify Payment, and you didn’t accept it.

What is the solution now???

Thanks

Hi @Miss_D ,

That is a great question. Shopify Payments is currently not yet available in the UAE, however as you mentioned, Stripe is now available as a payment processor within your region.

With that being said, I really appreciated your feedback on this. We are currently working hard to make Shopify Payments available in other parts of the world, including the United Arab Emirates, and we will definitely let you know through email once it is. While we do not have a timeline yet of if and when this will happen. I wanted to let you know that your voice is being heard and the more votes and feedback we get on this, the more likely it can happen.

For now, the only solution would be to use a third party payment gateway, as listed on the first link I posted. In the meantime, I am sending this feedback up to our developers for you to review. I would also suggest keeping an eye on our Shopify news page the Changelog, if there are new updates they will be posted there - so it’s good to keep this bookmarked!

Any questions, happy to help. Have an awesome day.

its so much complicated …

Hello,

have u find a soulution? actually, I’m facing the same problem.

on the other hand, I realize from ur question that u r currently using PayPal, my question is, can your customers proceed in the payment process without redirecting to the Paypal page? I mean to keep them at ur checkout page on ur website, not to transfer them to PayPal. page to complete the payment process.

and is ur customer has to create a Paypal account? or can he manage all the processes as a guest? our creating an account is mandatory?

Hi @Aalma .

Thanks for posting on this thread. You’ve got some great questions there, and I would be happy to share some information on this! Currently, it is not possible for a customer to complete a PayPal order without being redirected to the PayPal page. As PayPal is considered an external provider, your customers must complete their purchases on a checkout page that’s hosted outside your online store. For some extra information, you can read up on payment providers in our help center doc here.

In regard to guest payments, with PayPal the default is set to ask customers to log in to PayPal (or create a PayPal Account). In some regions, you can enable guest payments to let customers pay with their credit card even if they don’t have their own PayPal account. Learn more about enabling guest payments at PayPal right here.

Should you need any help with implementing this or with checking eligibility requirements for guest payments, please contact the PayPal support team here at this link. I hope this helps!
