Request for broader POS options beyond iPad/Shopify Go, including a PC/browser (Chrome)–based POS to allow use of standard USB barcode scanners and printers. Concern raised that Shopify’s approved POS devices are limited and not reliably meeting needs.
Shopify response: POS is designed for mobile/tablet on iOS or Android, with supported hardware available via the Shopify Hardware Store (link provided). Feedback for more device flexibility is welcomed.
Latest update: Shopify will submit the suggestion for a Chrome/web app POS and broader hardware support to the development team. No timeline or roadmap was shared.

Other companies uses PC as POS systems with lots of usb barcodes devices, printers, etc. in Shopify only iPad POS with very restricted barcode scanners (not very good ones) and limited printers, etc.
I wish you can come up with more options as POS. Really. We are looking for other POS systems because your approved devices are not reliable.

Shopify POS is built for mobile and tablet devices with either an iOS or Android operating system, and a variety of supported hardware is offered via our Hardware Store. I would like an app or a web site in chrome to work as POS so we can choose our own devices.
