Where can I find and install the Debut theme?

Hello,

I am trying to find and install Debut theme in my shopify but I can’t find it anywhere? Can someone send me a link here where I can download Debut theme? Thank you very much

and btw i forgot to mention, at themes.shopify.com i can’t find it anywhere i would appreciate it if someone will send the link of the theme as a zip.

Hello, @blackc0de22 .

As of November 2022, the Debut theme along with eight other themes were removed from our theme store. Eleven new themes have been shipped throughout 2022 and as a result of this, all current vintage non-OS 2.0 themes have been sunset - this includes the theme “Debut”. These themes have been removed from the theme store meaning new merchants will not be able to create a storefront with a vintage theme or choose these themes for their existing store.

We do have 2.0, Shopify-built, free themes for you to choose from - You can view these here. What are you looking for in a theme? I’d be happy to try and find one that works well for your needs once I have a clear picture of what exactly you are trying to achieve with your theme. I trust this information helps to clarify things for you, thanks!

you could download debut theme with OS 2.0 here https://github.com/mmarienko/debut

Hi @Solomon7

They are using the ‘Cospora’ theme, so if you want to create a website exactly like theirs, you can simply use the same theme.

Hi @Ivy_4 , can you explain to us why the Debut theme was removed from the theme store?

Hi there, @HenryAuffahrt . Thanks for reaching out with this question!

Basically the reason that Debut and the other themes were removed is so we can concentrate our time and effort on supporting our new 2.0 themes. We want to encourage our merchants to use the new features that come with these improved themes. Some of these new features are:

  • Custom Liquid section: Lets merchants (and Themes Support) inject Liquid directly from the themes editor, contained within a section. Contrarily to code edits in the code editor, adding a custom liquid section keeps the merchant on the upgrade path.
  • Page section: Lets merchant reference content from a page as a section.
  • Collage section: Lets merchants combine video, image, collection and product blocks to create collage-like layouts. Perfect for lookbooks, a brand video section, and more
  • Multi-Column section: Lets merchants create columns of content, perfect to list steps, logo lists, product highlights, etc..
  • Facet filtering: Merchants can enable filtering by product options, product type, availability, and more.
  • Pop up block on product page: Merchants can add a link to a pop up that can be used to display a size chart, an ingredient list, and more.
  • Collapsible block on product page: Merchants can add a collapsible tab block - combining more than 1 collapsible tab block can form an accordion layout to display secondary product information.
  • Square Setting on Product Grids: If you have imperfect assets and images (e.g. images of different sizes) the grid won’t look unbalanced. The grid will still adapt and won’t force cropping. That’s left as a decision the merchant can make. 4.11 - 4.50 - when the images are using different ratios the grid layout isn’t uniform - there’s a lot of awkward alignment. This is something that was fixed. Dawn is smarter with how it deals with different types of merchant assets.
  • Adaptable layouts across pages: The grid adapts to every use cases in terms of product assets and in terms of the quantity of products to show. In debut the product layout is dictated by the number of products per row and the number of rows but that is very desktop centric and doesn’t work on mobile at all. On Dawn the grid layout is dealt with with ‘maximum number of products to show’, in the minimum (6) is applied there will be no empty white space.
  • Predictive search: An auto complete suggestion on search bar. The objective is to support goal-oriented buyers who land on a website looking for something specific. The sections also provide quick access to collections and introduce easy-to-use product filtering options.
  • Upselling/ cross selling sections: Cross-selling sections and blocks allow buyers to discover related products throughout the shopping funnel, including in the cart. It aligns with the UX strategy taken for discovery-oriented buyers who like to browse and be inspired by content in order to make a purchasing decision. Highly visual sections can also be added to all pages for the same reason.

I trust this helps, thank you!

@Ivy_4 I want to create a theme from scratch how would I do that?

Thanks

Thanks for the info, Ivy. Can you tell me which current theme would be most similar to debut? I’ve been using it for years, and really used to it so I’d like some thing similar, thanks.

Hello Ivy, maybe you can help me. I am trying to find a theme for my beauty store where I can build sets and people can select what type of color of the product they want in that set. please see an example attached from glossier.

the first image is the bundle and below you can select the color of each of the product

thank youu

So, following up the original question about Debut. I’d have Debut theme forever, I like it, and I’m not planning in changing my theme site any time soon, I spent sooo much time customizing it! However, trying to make a Landing Page I saw some videos showing things that my Debut version couldn’t, so all I needed was an update…but oh surprise…is not there anymore. I cannot spend more time migrating to a different theme, but there are many little things that I want it to update, like videos, or being able to customize new pages from the editor, etc. What should I do now?

Hi @dharo-aguayo

If you only want to have your page to Online 2.0,then you can hire someone to change your page template from liquid to json, don’t need to convert whole theme

I don’t see how this is fair. I’ve been your customer for years, I selected a theme some time ago, with the tacid promise to receive support on that theme, and now that I need help, you are telling me to hire/pay someone to be helped?!?!? Not even considering how much I invested on you, or how long I was faithful to you?
