Hello how can i get my 1099k documents
Hi, @maravillas .
Qualifying merchants should have already received their 1099k forms by now, as our team finished processing these by February 11. The Account Owner of the store should have received an email when their form was ready to download — have you checked all of your inboxes, including spam and junk, to see if you can spot an email from our team regarding your 1099k form?
If you can’t find an email from our team regarding an available 1099k form, is it possible that your store didn’t quite meet the threshold for the 2022 period? A store will qualify for a 1099k form if their transactions through our payment processors, which are Shopify Payments and certain Shop Pay Instalment transactions, meet or pass the 1099k threshold. This means that payments through third-party gateways aren’t included in the threshold.
As already mentioned in this thread, the federal threshold set by the IRS is $20,000 processing volume and 200 transactions. Both these metrics have to be met in order for a store to qualify. Some states have lower thresholds though, as listed below. Keep in mind that your state is determined by the address listed on your Shopify Payments account, which is separate from and may or may not be the same as the store address in your Shopify admin settings.
| State Name | 2022 Threshold |
|---|---|
| Arkansas |
>= $2,500 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
| California |
Follows the federal threshold, with one exception. California has a threshold of $600, but that only applies to ‘app-based drivers’ (e.g. Uber). Shopify merchants are not likely to qualify for this category. |
| District of Columbia (DC) |
>= $600 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
| Illinois |
>= $1,000 USD in gross payments and 4 transactions within the calendar year. |
| Maryland |
>= $600 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
| Massachusetts |
>= $600 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
| Missouri |
>= $1,200 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
| New Jersey | >= $1,000 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
| Vermont | >= $600 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
| Virginia |
>= $600 USD in gross payments within the calendar year, no transaction threshold. |
If you’d like, we can reach out to our internal taxes team to double check whether or not a 1099k form exists for your store for the 2022 period. Hi, @shanen .
To clarify, the 1099-K issued by Shopify is only for transactions processed through Shopify Payments, including Shop Pay Instalments. It doesn’t include transactions processed through any other payment gateways you may have connected to your store (such as PayPal), or cash sales. Interest bearing transactions through Shop Pay Instalments are also not included.
Keep in mind also that your 1099-K forms report the gross transaction value. It doesn’t (and shouldn’t) factor in refunds, chargebacks, credit card processing fees, adjustments or any bills you may have paid using your Shopify Balance.
If you’re still seeing discrepancies on your 1099-K and would like further assistance, you can contact our live support team so that we can help share some tips in reconciling your figures. To get in touch with our team, please login to your store via our Help Center here. Once logged in, select a topic, and you’ll be taken to a page with a list of relevant support articles. You’ll then need to scroll to the bottom of that page to select your preferred contact method with our team, and our live support team will be able to continue assisting you from there.
