Can you let me know in which country you yourself are based? Do you have US citizenship or live in the United States?

It is a requirement for all merchants using a Shopify Payments US account to provide a Social Security Number (SSN) during the verification process when signing up for an account. This is a required step that cannot by bypassed and other information we may ask for is outlined in section B-3 of the Shopify Payments Terms of Service.

Other gateways that are available to merchants in the United States will have varying requirements for an account, and they may not ask for an SSN. You can check out our list of available gateways in the United States to see some of your potential third-party options.
