Hello I have added taxes for Australia. Unfortunately I am not sure where can i get the info to add the taxes for the other countries such UK, US, EU, NZ, UE etc. I saw i can add vartex to help me calculating the taxes but my store is small . I just started and I’m not sure if its worth it to add vartex plus they don’t even allow me to talk to them because my business emails ends with Gmail.com I would highly appreciate some advice about this. I am located in Australia.
Topic summary
A user operating a small Australian-based store has successfully configured taxes for Australia but needs guidance on setting up tax rates for other countries including the UK, US, EU, and New Zealand.
Key concerns:
- Uncertain where to find accurate tax information for multiple countries
- Considering Vertex tax automation but hesitant due to:
- Store being newly launched and small-scale
- Vertex’s requirement for business emails (user’s email ends with Gmail.com)
- Unclear if the service cost justifies the benefit at this stage
Suggested solution:
Another user recommended a manual setup process:
- Configure shipping countries in Shopify
- Set location-based tax rates
- Enter tax registrations for collection
- Override rates or exempt products as needed
- Configure digital product taxes
A Shopify tax setup guide was referenced for detailed instructions. The discussion remains open regarding whether to pursue automated solutions or manual configuration.
